9th January 2007

Wind Stength: ave 25 knots
Surf / Sea State: lumpy with increasing shore du
Air Temperature: 11 ish
Sea Temperature: ok
Weather: dry, overcast with sunny spells
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Started on PW78 with 4.5m Manic, went okay to start with, decent run out, big jump, tailfirst landing, rip dragged board, opted out and went to waterstart and got nailed by another big wave .... U turn, back to beach & go again !
Was a bit like this today until wind dropped a bit as tide rose to become proper dumpy on inside.
Opted to swap boards for 3S97 to see if okay with the 4.5m as no time to switch both ..... first go got nailed approx 50 mtrs out and got back in damage free mode. Had a re-think but was dopey enough to go again .... bit more success this time, until approx 100 mtrs out and a nasty one stood up and folded right on me with nowhere to run .... ripped the rig right off me and that was me in swim like bu**ery mode .... eventually catching up with my kit ... on the beach !
Fortunately all intact bar a minor graze on one rail ... time to pack up !
Every day on a 4.5m is a day with 'L' plates firmly fixed ... not applying for a test date just yet
